attack if peak flow meter is between 50% and 80%. If this number is below 50%
then it is emergency. You should contact your doctor immediately in case of
shortness of breathe.

You can deal with the
symptoms of asthma attack with the help of action plan. You can take medicines
according to peak flow measures. The medications should be used properly. You
can call for doctor if symptoms become worse even after following the plan.
Muscles become tight
around airways during asthma attack due airways linings swell. Air tubes are
blocked with excess mucus secretion and breathing becomes difficult because of
air trapped in lungs. There can be wheezing in the beginning and shortness of
breathe with attacks.
There can be breathing
by leaning forward and shoulders can become hunched. There will be increase in
breathing difficulty with posture. The tissues in neck and chest also sink with
each breath and result in retraction. There will be no air entering in the
lungs in retraction. You should contact your doctor immediately in this
condition. Fatigue, poor appetite and decreased activity can be some signs of
deterioration in children.
Gray or blue lips or
fingernails represent insufficient oxygen supply in the blood and this
condition is called cyanosis. It is an emergency situation. Difficulty talking,
shortness of breath, panic or anxiety feelings, coughing, inability to inhale
or exhale and sweaty face are some other signs of asthma attack. You can save
