It is a
symptom which is associated with different medical, sleep and psychiatric
disorders. There can be occasional or short term insomnia in anyone which can
last less than three weeks. It can be caused with environmental factors like
noise, light, extreme temperature or uncomfortable bed. Stress, deadlines,
relationship concerns, new job, losses, death of family member is some other
causes of insomnia. Normally the causes of the insomnia are variable including
medical disorders like severe emphysema, chronic pain, menopause, chronic

can also have periodic limb movement disorder
(PLMD) in your sleep. There can be periodic legs movement which can result in
brief mini awakening. There can be significant sleep interruptions and insomnia
as well in severe cases.
- There
can be loud snoring and frequent
awakenings in the night with sleep apnea which is less common insomnia
cause. It can be due to certain factors like abnormal throat or nose structure
which can cause snoring.
- There
can be circadian rhythm in case you
stay up and sleep later. It can be difficult to return to the normal sleep
schedule. There can be insomnia problems in people who work later in the night.
Primary
insomnia is also known as psychophysiologic insomnia and it can be diagnosed
easily. It can be due to stress period in your life. There can be inability to
sleep and ongoing tension as well with insomnia. There can be problems for
people to sleep in case of bed sleep habits.

to Treat Insomnia?
Insomnia can be treated easily
by finding its cause. You can have non drug therapy option in which relaxation
therapy, stimulation controlling and bed time limiting techniques can be used.
You can also have an option of using medications for specific sleep disrupting
cause for the treatment of insomnia. You
can not be able to cure insomnia with sedative hypnotic drugs but these drugs
can help you to relieve insomnia symptoms. Chronic insomnia can be warranted
with the help of sleeping pills for short term. You can also treat insomnia by
using behavioral therapies. You can choose sedative hypnotic treatments
according to sleep problem. You can use zolpidem for short lasting results if
you have trouble in falling asleep. If you wake up after falling asleep then
you can use drugs like temazepam, flurazepam,
estazolam
and antidepressants. |
