There are following facts of normal hair growth.
90
percent of hair on the scalp grows constantly and other 10 percent of scalp
hair is in a resting phase which lasts two to three months.
Shedding
of hairs from 50 to 100 hairs per day is normal. After shedding the hair is
replaced with new one from the same follicle and then growing cycle starts
again. Scalp hair grows about one-half inch in a month.
With
the age, the rate of hair growth slows.
Causes of Hair Loss
Causes
of hair loss are mentioned as under::
- illness;
- aging;
- family history of baldness;
- change in hormones;
- trauma;
- burns.
But
the hair loss is not caused by the following:
- vitamin deficiencies;
- poor circulation to the scalp;
- excessive hat-wearing;
- dandruff;
- a gene passed on from an
individual's maternal grandfather.
Generally,
the earlier hair loss begins in men and ends with baldness.
Hair Replacement Surgery
For
the last ten year the interest in hair replacement has been increased. Two out
of every three men bear from hair loss when they are 60 years old. Harmonic
changes are also main cause of thinning and hair loss in women.
There
are a many techniques for hair replacement but hair replacement with surgery
cannot help to those who are suffering from total baldness. Candidates for hair
replacement must have a strong growth of hair at the back and sides of the
head. These hairs helped the as donor hairs to graft in the scalp.
There are four main types of hair replacement techniques as hereunder:
- HAIR
TRANSPLANTATION. In the hair transplantation, the
surgeon grafted hairs in the scalp by taking hairs from the back at the thinning area or bald.
- TISSUE
EXPANSION. A device called as Tissue Expander
is used and placed underneath the hair-bearing area which is next to a bald area. The tissue expander grounds the skin
to grow new skin cells. Then 2nd surgery
required placing the newly expanded skin over the nearby bald spot.
- FLAP
SURGERY. Flap surgery is perfect for covering
large hairless areas.
- SCALP
REDUCTION. Scalp reduction technique is used
for the removal of bald scalp with parts of the hair-bearing scalp.
Possible complications related with hair transplantation
procedures:
You
can have some complications with hair transplantation procedures also. Some of
them are here under:

Hair Growth;
- Bleeding
/ Wide Scare;
- Grafts;
- Infection.
Procedure of Hair Replacement
You can have it in the hospital
by surgeon as inpatient with anesthetic options of
General Anesthesia and Local Anesand outpatient thesia.
A
study shows that men whose crowns were completely bald had a 36 percent greater
risk of having one of the coronary events and men with moderate crown balding
had a 32 percent greater risk.
The men who were balding and had hypertension
were at twice the risk of heart disease, and those men with high cholesterol had
nearly three times the risk.
